JESU, JOY OF MAN’S DESIRING
Sung in German as ‘Jesus, bleibet meine Freude’
One of the most beloved chorales in the entire history of music, J.S. Bach’s beautiful four-part piece for SATB chorus, organ, and strings lifts our spirits with its message of hope, friendship and joy.
Singers meet live in person with Daniel & Kathryn on Saturday October 3, October 10, and October 17 for warm-ups, rehearsals, diction sessions, and a special workshop of this most delightful of pieces.
We provide singers with a downloadable Project Pack containing timetable, practice tracks, a technical guide, your score, and much more.
To see when our rehearsals fall in your timezone, follow this link to download our rehearsal timetable (subject to change).
After rehearsals are finished, singers are invited to submit their videos for inclusion in our Final Global Concert, which will take the form of a premiere broadcast of our JESU, JOY concert video, with our choristers also singing live from their homes.
Registration for this project is now closed.

MESSIAH
PART THE FIRST
& HALLELUJAH CHORUS
We are absolutely thrilled to be performing Handel’s MESSIAH as part of our inaugural season.
Our concert will present PART THE FIRST, which, in Handel’s characteristically jubliant style, is the most celebratory telling possible of the Christmas story.
Because we couldn’t sing MESSIAH without including the most joyful and rousing of all of its choruses, we are also including the famous HALLELUJAH CHORUS.
Singers can join us on either of two streams for our MESSIAH concert:
1. MESSIAH PART THE FIRST & HALLELUJAH CHORUS – $ 99
Choristers sing the full PART THE FIRST of Messiah, plus the Hallelujah Chorus
2. HALLELUJAH CHORUS ONLY – $39
Choristers sing only the Hallelujah chorus
Messiah Rehearsals start Saturday 7 November.
Singers are welcome to join us anytime throughout the project.

All singers are welcome!

ST MATTHEW PASSION
PASSION PROJECT & PASSION SCHOOL
Beginning in January 2021 and finishing with a live broadcast and performance on Good Friday, One World Baroque will embark on an intensive, multi-layered performance project on Part 1 of J.S. Bach’s magnificent masterwork, The St Matthew Passion.
The St Matthew Passion Project is designed to provide singers with the rare opportunity to undertake an intensive study and performance project on this exceptional work.
Follow this link to view our St Matthew Passion timetable (subject to change).
All singers are welcome on all streams, whether they be beginner or advanced, or amateurs or aspiring professionals.
TWO PARTS & FOUR STREAMS
The St Matthew Passion Project is divided into two main parts: 1. The ST MATTHEW PASSION PROJECT, which takes the form of weekly rehearals on Saturdays from early January through mid-March; and 2. the PASSION SCHOOL, a week-long intensive day school for both amateur and career-track choristers and soloists.
Each Part features separate streams, each with a different musical and or instructional focus.
Singers are welcome to join us on just one stream of one part of the St Matthew Passion project, or they can register for multiple streams. Simply choose which parts of the project are right for you, and register for them individually by adding them to your cart when you Click to Register and transfer to our shop page.
PART 1 – PASSION PROJECT
Instruction takes place on Saturdays between mid January and mid March. (Rehearsals are recorded and available to view outside rehearsal times.) Project finishes with a live broadcast performance of chorales and choruses from J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion on the One World Baroque YouTube Channel on Good Friday.

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN BACH’S CHORALES
The St Matthew Passion features more than a dozen chorales – beautiful four-part pieces for SATB chorus with deceptively simple melodies and timeless messages that strike at the heart of what it means to fear, love, and hope.
Choristers on this stream rehearse all the chorales in the St Matthew Passion, studying their texts, their use of language, and the careful way Bach placed each one at exactly the right place in the larger Passion story.
Singers receive warm-ups, rehearsals, technique sessions, workshops, German diction classes, and submit their own videos for inclusion in our final concert video.
All are welcome.

JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF BACH’S CHORAL WRITING
Choristers on the Chorales & Choruses stream attend all the rehearsals in the Chorales stream, but additionally rehearse and study a number of the more musically challenging choral movements in Bach’s towering achievement.
Choristers on this stream rehearse all the chorales in the St Matthew Passion and up to five of the more advanced choruses that Bach has cleverly place at key moments in the dramatic action of the Passion story.
Singers receive warm-ups, rehearsals, technique sessions, workshops, German diction classes, and have the option to submit their own videos for inclusion in our final concert video.
All are welcome.

PART 2 – PASSION SCHOOL
The Passion School is a week-long day school on for both amateur and aspiring professional singers on the choral and solo music in J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion. The Passion School takes place from Saturday, February 27 to Saturday March 6 online, with contact time of between 2 and 4 hours each day.
Directed by Daniel Taylor, who leads a large team of international choral directors, singing teachers, coaches, lecturers and vocal technicians, The Passion School offers choristers and solo singers the rare chance to undertake an intimate, intensive study of this exceptional piece with some of the most experienced early music singers, conductors, and coaches working today.

A WEEK STUDYING BACH’S CHORAL MUSIC WITH SOME OF THE TOP CONDUCTORS IN THE WORLD
Singers on the Choristers stream attend daily warm-ups, vocal technique sessions for choristers, and lectures that will explore Bach’s choral writing and associated singing traditions.
The Choristers stream includes a series of specialist informal sessions, including our Bach Talks with professional choristers, soloists, and players, and Cantor Chats with music directors, who will be joining us from around the world.
Choristers work on chorales and choruses that are not sung on any other stream on the St Matthew Passion Project. Choristers can contribute videos to specialist choral segments of the final St Matthew Passion Project video. Career-track and amateur choristers are welcome.
